Family Science Night: Owl Pellets
Wednesday March 27 6:30pm–7:30pm
Learn about the family of birds called raptors! What do they hunt? Where do they live? How do they raise their young? Learn through activities, then, dissect a real (sterilized) owl pellet with your family!
For ages 6 and up with a parent or caregiver.
Block Play/Juego con Bloques
Every Friday in March 10:30am–11:30am
Drop in our community room for open play featuring a mix of blocks, toys and other games for kids and their adults! There will be music and nonstop fun!
For children 0 to 5 with their caregiver.
Art Workshop
Saturday, March 2, 3pm – 4pm
Sign up for our monthly art workshop with local neighborhood artist Melissa! This workshop will incorporate new materials every month. Learn how to screenprint, work with clay, use watercolors and more!

Family Story Time

LEGO® @ the Library
Mondays March 11 & 25th 4:30pm-6pm
Calling all LEGO® enthusiasts and engineers! Join us for LEGO® free play and display your work in our lobby. Make new friends while building STEAM skills. For kids 4 and up. Younger children welcome with an adult. This is a drop-in event. No need to arrive right at the start or stay until the end. Build as long as you like!

Family Film Screening: The Princess and The Frog (2009)

Hardworking and ambitious, Tiana dreams of one day opening the finest restaurant in New Orleans. Her dream takes a slight detour when she meets Prince Naveen, who has been turned into an amphibian by evil Dr. Facilier. Mistaking her for a princess and hoping to break the spell, Naveen plants a kiss on poor Tiana -- thereby turning her into a frog as well. Join neighborhood artist Matthew Kingsley to learn the basics of using a sewing machine. We will build a sample collection of sewing styles and stitches for each participant’s reference. Participants are encouraged (but not required) to bring their own machine.

Learn about tenants’ and landlords’ rights and responsibilities under the Chicago Residential Landlord Tenant Ordinance (RLTO), and discover resources for conflict and problem resolution. Presented by ONE Northside, Northside Community Resources and Tapestry 360 Health.

Do you knit, crochet, embroider or do another needlecraft? Come to Wednesday in Stitches! Show us your work and learn from others in the group. No experience required! Please bring your own needles and yarn!
Introduction to Food Scrap Composting

In the U.S., approximately 40% of all food is wasted. Composting is nature’s way of recycling. Join us for a presentation and demonstration on home composting, from an Illinois Food Scrap & Composting Coalition (IFSCC) volunteer.

Do you want to practice speaking and understanding English? Do you want to improve your communications skills? Join our conversation group with Literacy Chicago and improve your ability to communicate.
This group focuses on having lively discussions about current events, life in Chicago, and many other topics. Learn to be more confident in expressing yourself in English, gain conversational vocabulary, meet new people, and have fun!
